RT 03 | Vicki Saunders: The Challenges of Going First
On today’s episode, we have the amazing Vicki Saunders, Founder of SheEO. Vicki has led this two-decade long initiative to transform how we support, celebrate, and finance female entrepreneurs around the world.
Our host Cherry Rose interviews Vicki, who starts by giving us a peek into her background. Learn about the events that fueled Vicki’s passion for a more diverse and inclusive society. Growing up in a male-dominated environment in countryside Ottawa, she did not realize the extent of her situation until she took up a feminist class at the age of 18.
Eventually, Vicki moved to Silicon Valley as better entrepreneurial opportunities beckoned. The next segment of the show is about Vicki’s venture and global community: SheEO. Vicki shares her audacious, long-term goal of building a diverse, inclusive society where women entrepreneurs are given equal and fair opportunities as their male counterparts.
Honest and open, Vicki shares the struggles and the victories she has faced in going first. A champion of women's rights for the last few decades, SheEO required her to leap and lead by example. She also shares one of her most vulnerable moments: losing her mother while building SheEO. With inner reflection and a supportive network, Vicki's story is inspirational and has allowed her to stay true to her radically different vision.
We wrap up this show by sharing some excellent self-care tips. Listen for some excellent nuggets!
